GHSA-vcmv-6rxx-fh7r · Severity: medium · Ecosystem: pip — OpenStack Nova Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor
OpenStack Nova before 2012.1 allows someone with access to an EC2_ACCESS_KEY (equivalent to a username) to obtain the EC2_SECRET_KEY (equivalent to a password). Exposing the EC2_ACCESS_KEY via http or tools that allow man-in-the-middle over https could allow an attacker to easily obtain the EC2_SECRET_KEY. An attacker could also presumably brute force values for EC2_ACCESS_KEY.
Conclusion & alert: CVE-2011-4076 is rated High Exploit Risk (64.1/100): CVSS Medium severity, with medium exploitation likelihood (EPSS 1.45%). Core evidence: 2 public exploit reference(s) are indexed (Exploit-DB). EPSS rose +1.04% over the last day, indicating growing attacker interest. Mandatory action: Public exploits are available—assess exposure, apply mitigations, and prioritize patching.
Risk is dynamic; we continuously reassess and refresh what is shown on this page as upstream context changes.
