GHSA-qv2v-m59f-v5fw · Severity: high · Ecosystem: npm — Insecure randomness in socket.io
Socket.io is a realtime application framework that provides communication via websockets. Because socket.io 0.9.6 and earlier depends on `Math.random()` to create socket IDs, the IDs are predictable. An attacker is able to guess the socket ID and gain access to socket.io servers, potentially obtaining sensitive information.
Conclusion & alert: CVE-2017-16031 is rated Moderate Risk (58.9/100): CVSS High severity, with medium exploitation likelihood (EPSS 2.00%). Core evidence: EPSS rose +1.57% over the last day, indicating growing attacker interest. Mandatory action: Review affected assets and schedule remediation.
Risk is dynamic; we continuously reassess and refresh what is shown on this page as upstream context changes.
EPSS lead: Daily EPSS estimates relative likelihood of exploitation; percentile ranks this CVE among scored vulnerabilities (higher = more severe relative rank).
