GHSA-9vjp-v76f-g363 · Severity: high · Ecosystem: maven — SnappyFrameDecoder doesn't restrict chunk length any may buffer skippable chunks in an unnecessary way
The Snappy frame decoder function doesn't restrict the chunk length which may lead to excessive memory usage. Beside this it also may buffer reserved skippable chunks until the whole chunk was received which may lead to excessive memory usage as well. This vulnerability can be triggered by supplying malicious input that decompresses to a very big size (via a network stream or a file) or by sending a huge skippable chunk.
Conclusion & alert: CVE-2021-37137 is rated High Risk (66.3/100): CVSS High severity, with high exploitation likelihood (EPSS 6.28%, 93th percentile). Core evidence: EPSS ranks this CVE among the most likely to be exploited in the near term. EPSS rose +3.90% over the last day, indicating growing attacker interest. Mandatory action: High exploitation likelihood—assess exposure and prioritize remediation.
