GHSA-q399-23r3-hfx4 · Severity: high · Ecosystem: npm — OpenClaw: system.run approvals did not bind PATH-token executable identity, enabling post-approval executable rebind
OpenClaw versions prior to 2026.3.1 fail to pin executable identity for non-path-like argv[0] tokens in system.run approvals, allowing post-approval executable rebind attacks. Attackers can modify PATH resolution after approval to execute a different binary than the operator approved, enabling arbitrary command execution.
Conclusion & alert: CVE-2026-31997 is rated Low Risk (17.9/100): CVSS Medium severity, with low exploitation likelihood (EPSS 0.09%). Mandatory action: Low composite risk—no urgent action required; patch on your normal maintenance cycle and revisit priority if CVSS or EPSS increases.
Risk is dynamic; we continuously reassess and refresh what is shown on this page as upstream context changes.
EPSS lead: Daily EPSS estimates relative likelihood of exploitation; percentile ranks this CVE among scored vulnerabilities (higher = more severe relative rank).
