Tracker summary

CVE-2011-2764 medium priority: Ubuntu including 2 source packages (ioquake3, openarena), 68 status rows across 34 suites (artful, bionic, cosmic, disco, eoan, focal, groovy, hardy, hirsute, impish, jammy, kinetic, lucid, lunar, mantic, maverick, natty, noble, oneiric, oracular, plucky, precise, quantal, questing, raring, saucy, trusty, upstream, utopic, vivid, wily, xenial, yakkety, zesty): ignored 34, not-affected 21 (5 distinct statuses).

Description:

The FS_CheckFilenameIsNotExecutable function in qcommon/files.c in the ioQuake3 engine 1.36 and earlier, as used in World of Padman, Smokin' Guns, OpenArena, Tremulous, and ioUrbanTerror, does not properly determine dangerous file extensions, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted third-party addon that creates a Trojan horse DLL file.
